Recipe Notes:

  • I’ve used sharp cheddar cheese in this recipe but you can use whatever you enjoy the most. It’s best to grate your cheese at home for this recipe instead of using pre-shredded cheese for best texture and taste.
  • Serve this cheeseburger macaroni as is or with a side dish such as a light green salad or dinner rolls.

How should I store the skillet cheeseburger macaroni?

– This mac and cheese can be stored in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or in the freezer for up to 1 month in an airtight container once completely cooled.

– Defrost any frozen leftovers overnight in the refrigerator to reheat in the microwave or the oven at 350℉ for about 30-35 minutes till hot and bubbly throughout.

How can I adapt this recipe?

1. Add a kick of heat to your mac and cheese by including hot sauce, cayenne pepper, or red chili flakes.
2. Other varieties of short pasta can be used but you will need to check the cooking directions on the box. Remember too that if you use larger pasta, then you may need more liquid since it will absorb more.
3. Ground pork, chicken, or turkey can be used instead of ground beef. The ground poultry has less fat which may alter the taste of the dish slightly.
4. Add veggies like corn to this recipe for a lovely sweet and crunchy addition to the soft and gooey mac and cheese.
