Hocus Pocus Candied Apples on a plate

Using basic ingredients, you can whip up a batch of these playful candied apples in under 30 minutes. Showcase these Halloween candied apples on a snacks table as part of your party decor or enjoy them while watching the beloved Hocus Pocus movie.

Recipe Notes:

  • Double or triple this recipe if you are planning a party and need to cater to a crowd.
  • If you use melted chocolate chips with food coloring instead of green candy melts, you may need to mix in some oil so that the chocolate doesn’t have any lumps.
  • Use craft tweezers when applying the candy eyes and pearls to the semi-wet coated apples. It’s so much easier – you can even get the kids involved!

How should I store these candied apples?

You can store these Halloween-inspired candied apples in a cool and dry place with a cellophane bag over the apple part or store them in the refrigerator for 1-2 days.

The only issue you may experience storing these chocolate-coated apples in the fridge is the condensation which could make the ink on the candy eyes smudge or run.

What variations can I make to these Hocus Pocus Candied Apples?

I’ve made these candied apples with green candy melts, but you could also use purple or orange candy melts as a color variation (if the candy melts come in those colors). Making a batch of green, orange, and purple candied Halloween apples would look stunning on a food table for your party.

Experiment with different colored pearl sprinkles as another way to decorate these candied apples.
Create a spider web effect on your candied apples by piping a web design over the dried green chocolate coating!

Hocus Pocus Candied Apples

  1. Melt the green candy melts in a bowl as directed on the package.
  2. Place the stick into the apple. It’s best to go a little sideways as the core of the apple is tough.
  3. Dip the apples in a bowl and set them on freezer, wax, or parchment paper to dry.
  4. Before they dry add on the candy eyeballs and sprinkles. If it does dry too fast you can dip the sprinkles and candy eyeballs in the candy melts with clean tweezers and place on the apple.
  5. Place in the fridge until ready to serve.
