Looking for a super cute treat to celebrate this year’s 4th of July celebrations?! These 4th of July Flag Rice Krispie Treats are not only eye-catching but are also ridiculously easy to whip up in just 30 minutes. Plus, there’s no baking involved!
This no-bake treat or dessert is made with a gooey mini marshmallow and crunchy rice krispie mixture, then decorated with frosting and candy to resemble the American flag. They’re easily customizable for adding your favorite edible decorations and simple enough to get the kids involved in your patriotic treat preparations!
Recipe Notes:
- While I’ve used a can of frosting for these treats which speeds up the process, you can also make your own frosting from scratch – it’s totally up to you!
- One easy way to prevent your rice krispie mixture from sticking to your hands while you are pressing it down into the pan is to wet your hands under the tap, shake off any excess water and then press the mixture down without fuss or mess. It works like a charm!
- While it may be tempting to use those remaining marshmallows in your pantry that haven’t seen the light of day for some time, these rice krispie treats really do taste their best when made with fresh and fluffy marshmallows.
- Apply a gentle pressure when pressing the rice krispie mixture into the pan so that you get light and chewy treats. Pressing too hard will result in hard rice krispie treats that you’ll find difficult to chew on.
- These treats are really your own to have fun with. Get the kids involved when making them and consider adding some shimmering edible glitter or pearly sanding sugar to the frosting when it’s still wet for that extra “wow” effect!
You can store these rice krispie treats at room temperature or in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Make sure that you store them in an airtight container or in the baking pan used and then cover them with aluminium foil (loosely so that the frosting doesn’t get messed up).
Absolutely! Either make them a day or two (at most) before you intend serving them and then store them in the refrigerator or at room temperature.

- Spray a 9 x 13” baking pan with butter or a non-stick cooking spray.
- In a large microwave safe bowl, combine your marshmallows and butter and heat for 1-2 minutes until the marshmallows get puffy.
