Easy Beef and Broccoli on a plate with rice

Our recipe features beef steak, broccoli, and optional mushrooms, all brought together with a flavorful sauce made from soy sauce, beef broth, sugar, and a touch of spices like garlic and ginger. Whether you’re a beginner cook or just looking to add a new dish to your repertoire, this recipe is straightforward and delivers great taste every time.

Recipe Notes:

  • Prep Ahead: Slice all your beef and vegetables before you start cooking. Having everything ready to go makes the cooking process smoother and faster.
  • High Heat is Key: Cooking on high heat helps sear the beef quickly and keeps the vegetables crisp. Make sure your pan is hot before adding the ingredients.
  • Customize the Sauce: Feel free to adjust the amount of sugar, garlic, ginger, and chili flakes in the sauce to suit your taste. If you like it spicier, add more chili flakes.
  • Cornstarch for Thickening: The cornstarch in the sauce helps to thicken it and coat the beef and broccoli nicely. For a thicker sauce, you can adjust the amount of cornstarch slightly, but be sure to dissolve it well to avoid lumps.
  • Garnish for Extra Flavor: A sprinkle of sesame seeds or a few slices of green onions can add an extra layer of flavor and make the dish visually appealing.
  • Adjust Vegetables to Your Liking: While broccoli is the star vegetable, feel free to add more mushrooms or even introduce other vegetables like bell peppers or snap peas to the mix.
What type of beef should I use for this recipe?

For the best results, use beef steak that is tender and easy to slice, such as flank steak or sirloin. Make sure to slice the beef against the grain for the tenderest results.

Can I use frozen broccoli instead of fresh?

Yes, you can use frozen broccoli. There’s no need to thaw it before cooking; however, the cooking time may need to be slightly adjusted to ensure it’s fully cooked.

What can I use as a substitute for soy sauce?

Yes, you can prepare this dish ahead of time. However, for the best taste and texture, it’s recommended to eat it freshly made. If you need to store it, keep it in an airtight container in the refrigerator and reheat gently before serving.
