Air Fryer Crab Rangoon
For a healthier version of this much-loved American-Chinese appetizer, Air Fryer Crab Rangoon are the way to go!
In case you’re not familiar with crab rangoon, they consist of crab meat (usually imitation crab meat which is mostly fish meat resembling shellfish meat) and cream cheese stuffed wonton wrappers that are traditionally deep fried.
Ever since getting my own air fryer, I’ve been experimenting with making healthier versions of some of my favorite deep-fried foods such as Air Fryer Donut Bites and Crispy Air Fryer Bacon, and the list keeps growing by the day!

These Air Fryer Crab Rangoon are perfect to add to a snacks platter, at your next backyard BBQ or to impress your guests if you plan on hosting an American-Chinese cuisine night.
RECIPE TIPS
- Once air fried and fully cool, leftover crab rangoon can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Storage for any longer than this can result in wonton wrappers becoming soggy and stale. When ready to serve, heat them up in the air fryer or in the oven which will also help to give them a crispy crunch again.
- I don’t recommend freezing baked crab rangoon as the freezing and thawing process can affect the texture of these appetizers.
- Wonton wrappers can usually be found in most stores but you can also purchase them online. The brand of wonton wrappers makes no difference to the recipe so go ahead and make use of whatever you prefer.
- These crab rangoon can be served alongside some sweet and sour dipping sauce, duck sauce, or soy.

Air Fryer Crab Rangoons
- Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, mix the crab meat, cream cheese, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, green onions, and salt until well combined.
- Place one teaspoon of crab mixture in the center of each wonton wrapper. Dip your finger in water and run it around the edges of the wrapper, wetting each edge.
- Bring all four corners together above the crab mixture and pinch them together. Then, pinch together each of the four seams.
- Brush each wonton with vegetable oil, then place them in the air fryer basket, making sure they aren’t touching.
- Cook for four to six minutes, until the wontons are golden brown. Continue cooking in batches until all the wontons are cooked.
CAN I REHEAT THESE AIR FRYER CRAB RANGOON?
- These crab rangoon are best served straight from the air fryer, but yes, you can still reheat them later on. If you have leftovers, you can store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for a few days.
- To reheat them, simply pop them back into the air fryer for a couple of minutes until they crisp up again.
CAN THESE CRAB RANGOON BE MADE AHEAD OF TIME?
- While you want to serve your crab rangoon freshly made, there’s nothing stopping you from making the crab mixture ahead of time to reduce the preparation of these scrumptious appetizers. Then all you have to do is construct your rangoon and air fry them!
- I suggest that you make the cream cheese crab mixture the day before at most which is then to be stored in the refrigerator until assembling the crab rangoon for cooking the following day.
- Alternatively, you can also assemble your crab rangoon and then freeze them to be air fried within 3 months of freezing. Flash freezing prior to storing in an airtight container will help them to not stick together while in storage.
