But, I wanted to go beyond our laundry care, and share ways to save back used dryer sheets to use around your home.

Genius Uses for Dryer Sheets

Deodorant Marks

Nothing is worse than putting on an outfit to see deodorant marks on the sides of your shirt. Instead of a quick outfit change, grab an old dryer sheet and rub it back and forth over the spot where the deodorant is. This will instantly pull up the deodorant, so you know longer see the white residue on your garment.

Pet Hair

Take a dryer sheet and use it to rub over furniture, clothes, lampshades and more in your home. It will help to lift away any dog or cat hair that might be lingering. When you are done just toss the sheet and use a new one until your area is free of pet hair.
How do you use dryer sheets around your home?

Chrome

If you have chrome fixtures in your home, simply wipe clean as normal. Then take a used dryer sheet and buff the chrome to give it incredible shine. This can also help to repel water that might hit your chrome fixtures.

Dusting

Grab a dryer sheet (new or old) and use it to wipe down your wooden furniture, window blinds, and even baseboards. The dryer sheet will help to lift the dust, and it will cling to the dryer sheet.

Repelling Rodents

You can use dryer sheets to stuff into any holes you might find in your home where you think mice are getting in. This is a simple way to deter the rodents so they won’t come into your home. If you are unsure of where they are at, simply place dryer sheets in areas like attic or basement that gets minimal traffic.

Clean Your Iron

Just lay out a dryer sheet and set your iron to the lowest setting it has. Then allow your iron to warm up, then slowly rub your iron over the dryer sheet, and watch the residue disappear. Do this until all the residue is removed from the plate of the iron.

Static In Hair

Slip a dryer sheet into your purse for when you are on the go. If your hair is having a ton of static, just wipe the dryer sheet over your hair and instantly the static disappears.

Bug Cleaner on Vehicle

If your window or headlights are splattered with bugs this summer grab an old dryer sheet. Dampen the sheet and use it to scrub away bugs on your headlights and windshield. Don’t use the dryer sheet on the painted areas of your vehicle as this can scratch and ruin the pain. Once you wipe away the bugs, use another cloth to dry up any leftover mess.

Stuck On Food In Pots and Pans

Fill your pot or pan with warm water and soap and then toss in a dryer sheet. Let the pot sit for at least one hours and then go back and wash and rinse your pot. This will help to lift away any stuck on food that you are unable to get off the pot. Repeat the process as needed.

Scissors

If your scissors are not working as smooth as before and not cutting right, you can buff the blades with a used dryer sheet. To sharpen the blades fold aluminum foil together and cut through it. Then repeat buffing blades with dryer sheets. It will help lubricate your scissors for a clean and sharp cut.

15 Self Care Tips to Make you a Better Mom

1. Enjoy the preschool moments where your youngest is off to school for a few hours, do something fun you enjoy or take a nap.
2. If you work from home or stay at home, take one weekly nap day where you bring the kids to school and come home to simply relax all day long.
3. Allow yourself time to transition between mom duties, this could be winding down to some music, reading a book for 20 minutes or taking a drive before switching gears.
4. Plan one night a week as bath night where you devote an hour to simply soaking in a warm bubble bath alone.
5. Get dressed up for no good reason, complete with makeup and jewelry.
6. Listen to music while you’re cooking dinner or doing household chores to keep your mood stable and happier.
7. Bring back an old hobby that you loved doing before the kids were born and make it a priority in your life.
8. Make plans to do something that you’ve never done before, just be certain you have a sitter ready to take the kids if your partner can’t stay with them.
9. Have a weekly social date with a close friend over a cup of tea or coffee to just socialize about life, interests and whatever else makes you happy.
10. Enjoy making a blanket fort with your kids and climb in to curl up and enjoy some childhood laughter after a long day.

We all know how it goes. You go to Target, telling yourself you’re only going in for a few things. You make a mental list of what you need- light bulbs, dog food, and toilet paper. That’s it! You will be in and out in 15 minutes, tops.

Then you walk through the front doors, grab that oversized cart, and almost immediately your eyes are magnetically pulled to the Dollar Spot. You feel like you have hit the jackpot. Planners and murals and mason jars…oh my! You can never have too many of those things.

And how adorable is that picnic blanket? Who cares if you haven’t gone on a picnic since college- if you buy that picnic blanket, you will go on a picnic with your family every weekend.

It’s an investment in family quality time. In the basket it goes!

After throwing $20 worth of Dollar Spot goodies in your basket (“It’s a deal, really”), you tear yourself away to hunt down the things on your shopping list. By the time you check out, you have magically spent $200. What? Where? When? How? Why?

Target strikes again!

Listen, friend, you are not alone. Many Target shoppers go through the same cycle of completely going over their budget. But that doesn’t have to be your reality. Let’s talk about some ways you can check your Inner Deal Lover at the door and stop overspending at Target.

First things first….

1. Make a List

Never go to Target without a list of what you need to buy. Sit down with pen and paper while you are at home and make a list of only the things you plan to buy. Make sure you spend time on this. You don’t want to leave something off the list and then realize it while you are shopping.

Why not? Because once you add THAT one thing to your cart (even if you actually do need it), that makes it easier for you to justify adding other things (that you may not need). It’s a slippery slope!

2. Stick to Your List

Once you have your list in hand, shop only from that list. In other words, if it isn’t on the list, it doesn’t go in your cart (or in your belly). Resist the urge to window shop lest you decide that you “have to have” something extra.

3. Be Strategic

If you are a regular Target shopper, you probably have a mental map of the store’s layout. Use this mental map to plan the route that you will take to get everything on your list.

This will cut down on random strolling through the store. Random strolls only increase the chances that you will see something that you love and will be tempted to buy it. Focus on getting in, getting what you need, and getting out.

4. Don’t Be Fooled by Bargains

Let’s pause to do a little bit of math. You are at Target to buy dog food for $20. You happen to see a really cute blouse on sale. It usually costs $50 but right now it is 70% off. How much money will you save when you buy the blouse? If your answer is $35, I’m sorry to say that you are wrong.

Since you had no intention of buying that blouse, you are actually spending $15 MORE than you planned. That’s nearly twice as much money as you had budgeted for. Buying deals that you didn’t plan on buying is spending, not saving.

5. Only Take The Money You Need

If you feel like you will not be able to resist the urge to buy extra items, the one surefire solution is to only take enough money to cover the items on your list. Go to the ATM and withdraw money and then leave your debit/credit card at home. You can’t spend money that you don’t have.

6. Add Splurges to Your Next Shopping List

If you see something that you absolutely must have, make a note of it and be sure to add it to your shopping list for next time. Especially if it is something that they will likely have in stock for a while. By delaying gratification, you may even find that you don’t even want it once it’s no longer in your face to tempt you. Take that, buyer’s remorse!
