3tablespoonssalt
3tablespoonsCajun seasoning
1teaspoonchili powder
1teaspoongarlic powder
4+ quarts water or enough to cover the peanuts.
Red pepper flakesoptional
Instructions
Start by rinsing the raw peanuts in cold water. This helps remove any dirt or debris.
In a large pot, add the rinsed peanuts and the spices and stir, cover with water, ensuring there's enough water to fully submerge the peanuts.
Bring the water to a boil over high heat. Once the water reaches a boil, reduce the heat to low to maintain a gentle simmer. Cover the pot and let the peanuts simmer for 3 to 4 hours, stirring occasionally.
After about 3 hours, start checking the peanuts for doneness. They should be soft and tender. If they're still too firm, continue simmering.
Once the peanuts are cooked to your desired tenderness, adjust the seasoning if necessary. You can add more salt, Cajun seasoning, or chili powder according to your preference.
Using a slotted spoon or tongs, transfer the boiled peanuts to serving bowls sprinkle red pepper flakes on top if desired. Serve hot as a delicious and flavorful snack or appetizer.
